Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Intern for the public sector assurance team. Completed sampling and testing of various areas of the clients accounts e.g. expenditure. Participated in client calls and team meetings.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I didn't expect to be given much responsibility- thought it would be a lot of teas and coffee! But was surprised at the amount of trust my team gave me to have 1 on 1 calls with the client and to independently complete tasks.

Had very little prior experience of audit so learnt a lot about various processes and applications such as APT.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Everyone was so helpful and patient- they took time out to show me how to do things and explain the basics of audit. They also answered all my questions and responded really quickly!

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my internship and learnt so much about audit. Would definitely recommend it to anyone interesting in gaining experience in accounting.
