Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I have been working towards my level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship for the last 12 months. I've strengthened previous experience, and learnt new skills, in all aspects of the data and data analytics life cycles. From expanding my theoretical knowledge, to completing my own projects using PowerBI, SQL and Python.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I've enjoyed the opportunity to work on my own personal development, but also to be able to implement new tools and techniques into my daily work. I've been able to create efficiencies for the team by enhancing existing processes and strengthen our data insights.
The learning has been well paced, with access to lots of learning resources and excellent live training.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I already had some existing data skills but had learnt SQL and PowerBI in a very informal way. The course has allowed me to learn the 'whys', not just the 'hows', and I now feel more confident when working with data colleagues. I've also been introduced to completely new techniques for data cleaning and analysis, and have a better understanding of the wider data environment at Co-op.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well structured, with clear deadlines and regular check ins. It has been mostly well paced, but if I encountered issues with my availability due to work commitments, I was able to get support to move training or deadlines without falling behind.
Guidance and training has always been clear and pitched at a suitable level.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

Co-op are very supportive of apprenticeships, and being able to dedicate time to further my skills will benefit myself, my team and Co-op - it's been a worthwhile investment.
Co-op has a dedicated Apprenticeship team who check in regularly and are there for support if needed. My own manager has been great, and gives me the flexibility needed to keep on track with my apprenticeship whilst also juggling my own workload.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have regular check ins with my learning coordinator, who is really supportive and able to answer any questions I have. She provides useful guidance and is always happy to support when I am going through busy work periods and facing difficulties with prioritising my apprenticeship tasks.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I've gained lots of really useful knowledge and technical skills that have led to improvements and efficiencies for my team.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The Association of Apprenticeships and Co-op both offer networking events for Apprentices. Co-op has a dedicated channel to bring apprentices together.
There aren't an abundance of events but I have had support when I've needed it.
