Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Aiding my team with the planning, execution and completion of an audit. I was involved with client communication, ensuring the tasks were all up-to-date and keeping tabs on what comes in from the client. I completed lots of audit tests which will contribute to the overall audit.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of responsibility - I had to complete tasks on y own schedule and ensure that I was on track. I was given a variety of tasks to complete which all would contribute to the overall audit. It was interesting to see how much responsibility I was given - and it increased my confidence in completing these tasks.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt about the audit applications. Working with clients and how to communicate with them, on different platforms. I also learnt how to prioritise work according to deadlines, and improved my ability to work well under pressure.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of support from my teams and from my buddies. I was given different platforms like teams to ask for help and everyone was always on hand to help. I had a people's manager who was always available to answer any of my questions and I had regular meetings with her.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was so welcoming and exciting. Everyone was willing to help and support me and no question was a bad question. The office felt like a family and everyone knew everyone and it was a nice place to work in. I was provided wit a lot of variance in my work as well.

I really enjoyed it and I was very sad to be leaving, I learnt a lot about audit and everyone was so welcoming and inclusive.

What advice would you give to others applying to BDO
To be inquisitive and show passion for the role. It is important you know how to prioritise and handle criticism as there will be things you need to work on. Be communicative and always ask questions!
