Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day-to-day basis, I problem-solve on a variety of projects in the build environment. I've worked on a variety of industries (motorsport, commercial, residential) and mostly work on drainage-related elements. I also occasionally work on transport-related jobs, such as designing an access road.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The office is a nice atmosphere, and I enjoy learning new things on a range of projects. There are often socials for people under 25, allowing you to get to know people at a similar stage in their careers, as well as office and team socials.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Before joining Ridge, I knew very little about civil engineering and had never worked in an office environment. I developed my communication and professional skills and gained extensive knowledge and skills in civil engineering.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme includes regular training on a range of topics. Communication of when these are and what they are about is always clear.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer supports me through a range of CPD, helping me balance my uni work and professional work, and through providing socials to foster a strong community feel.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Warwick supports us by making sure we know how and where to log off the job training. However, university societies are strongly geared towards full-time students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I don't find there to be a lot of overlap between what I learn at uni and what I do at work however this may change in the future when the course moves onto more niche topics
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are often social activites (sports days, pizza nights, movie nights, crazy golf, meals out) as well as opportunities to take part in weekly football games. I've also had the opportunity to attend a professional networking event.

The people I work with make for a nice environment, the office is nice, and we get to walk around the Blenheim Palace grounds.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ridge and Partners LLP?
Some offices may be reluctant if you are relocating for the role, but others may not.
