Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Read market news daily and send-out team wide markets overviews each day. Researching of presentation topic. Other research tasks set by my team in relation to specific clients. Talk to as many people as possible to learn as much as you can in the limited time available.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Very little. Legally as interns you are not allowed to execute any deals or speak to any clients. I dealt with doing research and sending it to the team daily under the supervision of my buddy.

Learnt to become very good on excel. Learnt some python from other interns. Learnt how to use bloomberg terminal.

What advice would you give to others applying to Nomura
Be honest, be transparent, don't pretend to be more qualified than you are. Show interest, eagerness and willingness to learn. Be direct with the hiring manager about your interest in their teams early.
