Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I started as a senior support worker but after a few month progressed to my role of deputy manager. I support the manager to run the service on a daily basis. I work with the senior support workers to ensure they staff and PWS know what they are doing each day. I support the manager to complete audits within the company and to complete supervisions and appraisals. I participate in investigations and complaints procedures.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy this programme. I feel like I get more than enough support from both my employers and tutors. I feel confident asking them questions and know that they will help me in any way they can.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've definitely learnt new skills, so far I've learnt leadership theories and that has given me more confidence applying that in practice. During my safeguarding module I've learnt different terminology that has supported me through work when I've been asked questions by other agencies as well as the support staff.

Having regular meetings and set modules works well so I know what I'm doing and what time it needs to be done by.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I can approach my manager at any point if there is something I don't understand. They are well experienced and understand that I'm new to the role and may need support in specific areas.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider understand that during my promotion I did not have much spare time to complete my assignments and has worked really well with me to prompt me to use my time more efficiently so that I can complete these.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

This qualification is providing me with the knowledge and skills needed to complete my role as a deputy manager and become more confident in my role.

This company support progression of the staff and are always happy to provide as much training as possible. The upper management are always helpful and supportive.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to VOYAGE Care?
Just be yourself and just know that the manager will always support you even if you are new to care.
