Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I assist individuals with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, autism, Down syndrome and challenging behaviour to live as independently and comfortably as possible. I provide person-centred care, ensuring each individual’s needs, preferences, and dignity are respected at all times.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme to a great extent as it allows me to develop both my knowledge and practical skills within my role as a carer. I find every module very relevant to my day-to-day responsibilities, which helps me better understand how to provide high-quality, person-centred care.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have improved my communication skills, particularly when working with individuals with different needs, by adapting my approach to ensure they feel understood and supported.
I have also developed my knowledge and confidence in areas such as safeguarding, communication, working as a team, and promoting person-centred care.

I receive a good level of support from my training provider, my personal tutor is approachable and provides clear guidance on what is expected for each unit, which helps me understand my work better.

I feel that my qualification helps me perform much better in my role as a support worker. The knowledge and skills I am gaining are directly relevant to my day-to-day responsibilities, which makes it easier to apply what I learn in practice.

I would advise others applying to Paragon Skills to stay organised and manage their time well, as this will help balance work responsibilities alongside completing the qualification. Keeping up to date with assignments and not leaving work until the last minute makes the programme much more manageable.
