Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I joined the DCM team. On a day-to-day basis, I was involved in live deals on the Debt Capital Markets, supported my colleague in the preparation of materials dedicated to the clients, and assisted to client meeting to take call report and better understand their needs.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

During the internship, I was given more and more responsibility as I gained experiences. Once I have provided several good works, I was given more responsibility.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

During my internship, I considerably improved my knowledge related to Capital Markets and Debt Financing. On a day-to-day basis, I also improved my Powerpoint and Excel skills, Finally, I also broaden my horizons in terms of regulatory requirements for Financials Institutions Group.

My line manager was always available should I have any questions. Same for the analysts that always helped me, when I encountered an issue. The entire DCM team was very supportive. All the explanations and teach-in I received were very clear.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture at UBS is great. As a summer intern, I was directly integrated in the team. A lot of team events were organized by HR which enabled us to get to know our peers and colleagues in other teams.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

My placement was great. I gained a lot of technical, professional and interpersonal skills and had a very nice time within my team. We have a strong cohesion among the summer interns which I really appreciated.
