Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I manage costs and contracts on a daily basis, ensuring site works progress according to schedule. I address and resolve any issues that arise, manage and track payments, maintain budget control, and liaise closely with clients to ensure their expectations are met

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship programme. The support and guidance provided are excellent, and any issues or concerns—whether work-related or academic—are addressed quickly and effectively. This has created a very positive learning environment and allowed me to develop both professionally and academically with confidence

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Over the last four years, I have developed a range of key personal and professional skills. I have taken part in several training programmes aimed at improving my communication, presentation, teamwork, initiative, and resilience. Moreover, I have developed strong problem-solving abilities, time management, and the confidence to take ownership of tasks and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The apprenticeship programme is extremely well structured. Prior to joining the company, a two-and-a-half-year secondment rotation programme was established, allowing apprentices to spend time across various departments for several months at a time. This was designed to develop a strong understanding of the company’s processes and build relationships across teams.
Having now completed these secondments and moved into a more focused role, I am able to carry out my work with greater accuracy and confidence, as I understand who to liaise with and procedures that are in place in each department.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I receive a high level of support from my employer across both my professional and academic development. My workload is well managed, with guidance available whenever needed to ensure I can meet project demands effectively. I am also well supported with my academic studies, allowing me to balance work and learning successfully. In addition, I have been assigned both a work mentor within my team and a personal mentor from outside my department. This provides me with a well-rounded support system, offering both technical guidance and broader career advice, which has been invaluable to my overall development.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I receive a very high level of support from my training manager. They organise quarterly reviews to assess my progress over the previous three months and coordinate meetings with my university provider to ensure I am meeting academic targets and progressing towards my portfolio for the EPA. In addition, my training manager allocates relevant training courses that support both my personal and professional development. They also provide ongoing support within my working department, resolving any issues and ensuring colleagues understand my apprenticeship commitments and goals, enabling me to achieve the best possible progression

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
My qualification through my training provider supports my role to a great extent. It provides me with the theoretical knowledge that underpins the practical work I carry out on a daily basis. This allows me to better understand industry processes, apply best practices, and approach tasks with greater confidence and accuracy. As a result, I am able to perform more effectively in my role and add greater value to the projects I am involved in

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
At work, we have had various extra-curricular activities. This has included Apprentices vs Managers 7-a-side matches, charity events, including the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge & Total Warrior, padel/tennis games, award evenings with professional bodies, and apprentice social nights.
