Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a Level 4 Project Management Apprentice, I support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of projects while developing my skills as a project professional. I help coordinate tasks, track progress, manage project documents, and communicate with stakeholders to keep work on schedule and within scope. I also learn to identify risks, support problem‑solving, and contribute to effective teamwork. Alongside my daily responsibilities, I complete structured learning and assessments to build my understanding of project management principles, tools, and best practices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I’ve really enjoyed my role as a Level 4 Project Management Apprentice because it’s given me the chance to learn quickly, take on responsibility, and see the real impact of the work I support. At the same time, it’s been challenging in the best way - balancing deadlines, managing different stakeholders, and adapting to new tasks has pushed me to grow professionally and become more confident in my abilities. The mix of hands‑on experience and continuous learning has made the role both rewarding and motivating.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Throughout my apprenticeship, I’ve gained a range of new skills while also strengthening the ones I already had. I’ve built confidence in areas such as project coordination, communication, and stakeholder management, while developing my existing organisational skills and attention to detail through real world project experience. The role has pushed me to apply what I already knew in more complex situations, helping me grow into a more capable and well‑rounded project professional.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme has been really well organised, which has made a huge difference to my confidence and progress. The structure has given me clear expectations, regular touchpoints, and a good balance between on‑the‑job learning and guided development. Having consistent support, planned learning modules, and timely feedback has helped me stay on track and fully understand how each part of the apprenticeship connects to my role. Overall, the organisation of the programme has made the experience smooth, engaging, and genuinely supportive.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has given me incredible support throughout my apprenticeship, which has made a huge difference to my development. From clear guidance and regular check‑ins to opportunities to get involved in real projects, I’ve always felt encouraged and trusted. Whenever I’ve faced challenges, there’s been someone ready to help, explain, or give feedback. This level of support has not only helped me grow my skills but has also made me feel valued and confident in my role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider has also given me great support throughout my apprenticeship. The tutors have been approachable, knowledgeable, and always willing to explain things in a clear and practical way. The scheduled workshops, regular reviews, and constructive feedback have helped me understand how to apply project management principles in real situations. Whenever I’ve needed help or clarification, they’ve been quick to respond and genuinely invested in my progress. Their guidance has played a big part in helping me stay confident and on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Working toward my project management qualification has directly helped me perform better in my role. The learning has given me a stronger understanding of project principles, tools, and best practices, which I can apply day‑to‑day. It’s improved how I plan and prioritise tasks, communicate with stakeholders, and assess risks, making me more organised and confident in managing my workload. Having the theory behind the work I do means I can approach projects more strategically and contribute more effectively to my team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Another part of my apprenticeship experience that I’ve really appreciated is the range of extra‑curricular activities available, such as sports sessions, group walks, and wellbeing events. These activities have helped me switch off, stay active, and connect with other apprentices in a more relaxed setting. They’ve added a fun balance to the programme and contributed to a sense of community, making the overall experience even more enjoyable and supportive.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend a friend to join Unilever because it’s a supportive, inspiring place to grow both personally and professionally. The culture is welcoming, people genuinely care, and there’s always someone willing to help you learn. The opportunities to get involved in real projects from day one, combined with great training, make it a brilliant environment for developing new skills. Unilever also puts a big focus on wellbeing, work–life balance, and creating a positive community. Overall, it’s a company where you feel valued, challenged, and encouraged to be your best.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
For anyone applying, my biggest tip is to be yourself and show genuine enthusiasm for the role. Make sure you’ve researched the company and can explain why you want to work there, not just what you hope to gain. Highlight your strengths with real examples, even if they’re from school, part‑time work, or volunteering. Be prepared to talk about times you’ve shown teamwork, organisation, or problem‑solving. Most importantly, don’t worry about being perfect - focus on showing your potential, curiosity, and willingness to learn. And finally, ask questions! It shows confidence and helps you understand whether the programme is right for you.
