Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role consists of ensuring the store is tidy both on the shop floor and within our warehouse. I serve customers at the till and also provide any help with questions they may have when finding their products. It also consists of working deliveries so that shelves are fully replenished ready for customers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed the apprenticeship as it provided me with more customer service experience which I needed in most jobs and therefore have prepared me for anything I decide to go into. I was also able to build a positive relationship with everyone in store, both colleagues and customers.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Although I was already quite confident in customer service, this job role has helped me develop this as I could still be anxious when talking to new people at times, especially if I was unsure of how to help them. I have also learnt new skills such as being able to use a HHT, as I had never come across one and it had improved my time management as there will be days that you had go prioritise certain jobs over others but still get everything done.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My apprenticeship was well organised in the sense of my team were always aware of when my visits were and when I had to have things done by. However, I found that at the beginning I was sort of seen as just the extra team member they needed and my training time was sometimes forgotten about. As we all got more comfortable, I was able to get my dedicated hours of learning as well as being shown new skills that I had set as goals for myself.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My team was always very good at providing me with support when I asked for it and everyone was willing to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider was very supportive when I was working towards my qualifications and would always ensure that I was aware she was just a call or text away. She also played a big part in ensuring that I was ready and confident in myself when it came up to my exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I felt that although the qualification helped me perform better in my role, it wasn’t necessarily anything that I was new to as I had already worked in the customer service sector.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I have not been made aware of any extra curricular activities at work, therefore I don’t believe there are any.

Would you recommend Savers Health and Beauty Ltd to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend the savers apprenticeship to a friend as I felt that I definitely helped build my confidence when it comes to talking to strangers and therefore helped me overcome my anxiety. It’s also a good place to start as you can see how good your customer service is due to impact you have on your customers and how they interact with you.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savers Health and Beauty Ltd?
I would say to ensure you take initiative of your own learning as you as an individual are the only person that knows what you want to achieve from the experience and if you don’t ask, you won’t receive.
