Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I have a very varied role day to day, I move around the business on placement and therefore I get to see lots of different projects and work with lots of different stakeholders on a daily basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the programme, the only thing that slightly lets it down is the university side of things and the organisation of teaching apprentices rather than full time students.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I am developing new skills everyday as an apprentice being immersed into work I have never done before and had no previous knowledge about.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is well structured at the start and then it started to fall off based on the fact future planning had not been put in place and therefore it became reactive.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
They do have a good support network however the teaching is poor sometimes as they do not put as much effort into teaching part-time students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I do think it goes hand in hand with my development at work as the theory is applicable.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I am part of the early career professionals network as the vice chair and this is really good to be involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Network Rail to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good place to work as it does have a lot of perks and there are so many different projects and developments to get involved in, I think you will almost always find something that interests you!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Network Rail?
Do some work experience with NR to find where your interests are! I think if you have interests in certain subjects, search roles that apply and then complete work experience to really truly understand the roles.
