Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I manage the apprenticeship provision and skills development courses for staff in the NHS Trust I work in. I communicate and liaise with apprentices, manager and training providers frequently to maintain the quality of provision. I manage a team of staff and budgets, alongside undertaking marketing and promotional work for my area of work.
I was 45 when I decided to undertake an apprenticeship at Level 7 and had not been to University before only College education at HND level many years ago.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I did not think I would learn any new information but I was proven wrong. I learnt new theories and models and how to present formal reports and undertaking evidence based research. The HEI apprenticeship at Level 7 was very enjoyable and interaction with other peers and academic staff.

Academic Mentor and lecture support was responsive and engaging through-out.

I was able to have my dedicated 20% OTJ time and support for work exposures where there were gaps in experience and knowledge

Academic mentors / skills coaches were allocated to learners and we met regularly to discuss progress and support needed

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I was able to apply the theories and strategies learnt on program in to me role, which also help to improve the direction of the service and quality of provision.

Yes

Why?

It is one of the largest NHS Trust in the Midlands. There are many support groups to be involved in and opportunities to develop oneself through training and development courses, though different routes.
There are many different roles which can suit someone seeking a role in the NHS and at different levels, apprentice, newly qualifies, experienced in clinical and non-clinical roles.
