Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Gaining a better understanding of data, its various forms and formats, how it needs to housed and protected. Learning how to cleanse and rebuild data where needed. Once in a useable and trustable state, how to present and visualise the data for a range of audiences.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I now see data in a very different way to how I used to just over a year ago, I am confident using Excel and understand it's functionality. It has been such a great learning journey and I have encouraged many others to learn more about data because of this apprenticeship.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to used Power Query and Power BI, I can now use Pivot tables and charts confidently too. i have a vast understanding of excel functions and formulas and the wealth of functionality held within each ribbon.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well. Each module is based on a Discover, Practice, Apply methodology that first introduces a subject, then there are 3 days of live tutor-led online learning sessions where the subject is explore further and "safe" practice is facilitated, before finally take the new learning out into the workplace where it is applied in reality. It is fast paced but there is lots of support.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

So much! My line manager is great at helping me to protect my off the job time and I have an entire team of mentors available in our Data Enablement Team. I am able to speak to them via a dedicated Teams channel and can pop Teams chats in with them. There is also a Data learning Hub where supportive information can be found along with a dictionary of data terms. There is also the Apprenticeship team who regularly check in to see how I am doing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There are regular EPA readiness meeting with my Coach and my Line manager. As stated earlier each Module has 3 days of live learning facilitated by an SMA tutor. Both coach and tutor can be contacted for further support. There is also a learning platform that can be accessed 24/7.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Although my role isn't rooted in data, data is all around me and I can now inform leaders better on how our apprenticeships are supporting colleague development and therefore the supporting the business.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, Co-op has several colleague networks and regularly hosts networking events. Viva engage is used to great effect to share good news stories and to connect colleagues from all work levels on a very human level. This makes me feel very valued and part of a close, albeit 55,000 strong, team.

Why?
Co-op is different. We place a high value on ethics and morality. I feel listened to and valued. The Co-op is an employer with principles and it does what it says it is going to do.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Co-op?
Be yourself, the very best version of yourself. Have a read of the company's origins back in 1844 and get an understanding of how the membership works from a business perspective. This will help you understand how we differ from companies owned by large shareholders.
