Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role, I supported the HR team across a wide range of tasks, including general administration, data entry, and employee lifecycle activities such as recruitment, onboarding, and leavers. I kept our HR systems up to date, including the HRIS and ATS, and monitored the HR inbox to ensure queries were dealt with promptly. I worked closely with different departments to provide accurate information and support when needed. I contributed to wider HR processes such as recruitment coordination, pay review preparation, and improving our HR systems and procedures. As part of my apprenticeship, I continued developing my HR knowledge and applied what I learned directly in the workplace. Over time, I was trusted with more advanced tasks, including areas of employee relations, and I also delivered my own HR projects focused on early careers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I’ve really enjoyed my programme and found it genuinely valuable. It’s helped me build solid HR foundations while getting proper hands‑on experience. Starting as a mature student was a bit challenging at first, but my tutor and colleagues were really supportive. The Level 3 gave me the hand-on experience which is the way I learn best.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
HR technology skills (HRIS, ATS and others) including exposure to AI use in HR
Organisation and time‑management
Interpersonal skills
Communication skills
Negotiation skills
Employee lifecycle management
Employee relations exposure
Employment law understanding
Data analysis and reporting

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Organised well, especially in terms of employer support and the resources available to me and I always felt supported in the course. Unfortunately the tutors from the training provider kept leaving which caused delays and changes to the structure of the programme. The EPA standard also changed before I reached it, which made things a bit more difficult.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I was always supported with wellbeing and safeguarding, and whenever I was struggling for time I was given extra time to complete assignments which made things more manageable. I also had access to additional external training and time off to attend webinars/conferences to help me build my skills and confidence
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Alongside the 1‑to‑1 tutor sessions and classes, they always provided plenty of resources, hints, and tips to help build my knowledge and support my off‑the‑job learning hours. They kept me on track with what was needed at each stage and helped me prepare right up to the EPA.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It gave me the theory I needed but also really useful insights into employment law, real workplace situations and the soft skills you need in HR. It’s made it easier to understand what I’m doing day to day and why certain processes work the way they do.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yearly company‑wide get‑together
Employee awards ceremony
Internal EDI Forum
CIPD Conference with the HR team

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Clarke Telecom to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s a great place to work because it’s not your typical corporate environment. The culture is built on trust, the people are genuinely nice and you end up building a strong network. It’s busy but in a good way. The telecoms industry brings its own unique challenges, which keeps things interesting.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Clarke Telecom?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, the interviewers know the industry is niche and they’ll appreciate your genuine interest in learning more. Bring your best self on the day and just be yourself. It’s fast‑paced here so showing enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in goes a long way.
