My job role is electrical based something with which I had very little knowledge or interest with prior to beginning the apprenticeship

4/5
Well structured over the 3 years however dates, times and courses are switched around frequently without notifying of these changes so can be a challenge to keep up with.

Support is offered when asked for but on the whole people take a quite personal interest in our progression

The training providers tend to be quiet. Involved ensuring that we have work completed on time
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It provides the knowledge and skills I need to perform my role while the job itself provides the experience
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Any social gatherings that are organised with my department I always endeavour to be involved in

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Network Rail to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Opportunities in the country can often be far and few between and in my opinion the best thing to do is try to get involved in a large company as they have the backing to invest in people and qualifications
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Network Rail?
Be prepared to wait for a long while with the application process and stick with it even when you don’t hear anything back
