I have successfully completed the apprenticeship through the University of Derby, and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering further professional development. The programme was extremely well organised from start to finish, with clear structure, expectations, and excellent communication throughout. The guidance and support provided by the tutors and mentors were outstanding. They were approachable, knowledgeable, and always willing to help, which made a significant difference to my learning experience and confidence. The course was challenging, but in a positive and rewarding way, it pushed me to develop new skills, think critically, and apply my knowledge in practical, real-world situations. Overall, it has been a valuable and enriching experience that has helped me grow both professionally and personally. I would strongly encourage others to take advantage of this opportunity, as it provides not only a recognised qualification but also the confidence and capability to progress further in your career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed a range of new skills and strengthened many of my existing ones throughout the programme with the University of Derby. I have improved my critical thinking and analytical skills, particularly when evaluating information and applying theory to real workplace situations. My communication skills have also developed, both written and verbal, as the programme required regular assignments, reflective work, and professional discussions.
In addition, I have strengthened my time management and organisational skills by balancing my apprenticeship, work responsibilities, and personal commitments. This has helped me become more efficient, structured, and self-disciplined in my approach. The programme has also increased my confidence in my professional abilities and decision-making. Overall, it has supported both my personal growth and my ability to perform more effectively in my role.

Structure and Support

The programme with the University of Derby was very well organised and clearly structured throughout. The modules were delivered in a logical order, which made it easy to build knowledge progressively and understand how each topic linked to the next. Expectations, deadlines, and requirements were communicated clearly, which helped me stay on track and manage my workload effectively. The learning materials and resources were easy to access, and the online systems were user-friendly and reliable. There was also a good balance between independent learning, tutor support, and practical application within the workplace. The strong organisation and structure of the programme made the learning experience smooth, manageable, and highly effective.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have received a high level of support from my employer throughout the programme. Both my manager and mentor have been very encouraging and understanding of the commitment required to complete the apprenticeship. I was given the time and flexibility needed to attend learning sessions, complete assignments, and focus on my development without unnecessary pressure.
My manager has also shown a genuine interest in my progress, regularly checking in and providing guidance when needed. They have supported me in applying what I learned to my role, which has helped reinforce my knowledge and develop my practical skills.
The support from my employer has been excellent and has played a key role in helping me successfully complete the programme and gain the most from the experience.

I have received excellent support from my training provider throughout my qualification with the University of Derby. The tutors and support staff have been approachable, knowledgeable, and responsive whenever I needed assistance. They provided clear guidance on assignments, expectations, and progress, which helped me stay confident and focused throughout the programme. Regular check-ins and feedback were particularly valuable, as they ensured I remained on track and understood how to improve. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
As the programme was delivered online through the University of Derby, there were no in-person extra-curricular activities. However, despite this, we built a strong and supportive online community with fellow students. Through virtual sessions, group discussions, and online communication, we were able to connect, share experiences, and support each other throughout the programme. This created a positive and collaborative learning environment, even in a fully online setting. The relationships we developed helped maintain motivation, encouraged knowledge sharing, and made the overall experience more enjoyable and engaging.
