My role consists of running a team of Care assistants and aiding residents with clinical concerns
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy it. Having started of in care 2 years ago I have found it's really educated me on the sector. It fits around my work well, and my manager has supported me throughout.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt about legislation, polices procedures for safeguarding etc....
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well structured and organised. It's all on Aptem Lifetime learning and is broken down into monthly sections so we do a little bit as we go along (instead of inadvertently leaving it to the last minute!)
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My manager encouraged me to do the apprenticeship and has supported me throughout. I can ask him anything regarding what I'm learning, and always accommodates my learning and observations
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My assessor is always to hand when required. And checks in regularly to make sure I'm happy with that we've done. It helps that my assessor has worked for Barchester before so had a clear understanding of what I do.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel I am a lot more informed which has eased a lot of anxieties that I had when I initially progressed to Senior Care Assistant
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is always plenty of social activities at my workplace. And sometimes attend award nights which I thoroughly enjoy.

Would you recommend Barchester Healthcare to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have found Barchester to have high standards which I feel has equipped me for when and if I go to another organisation. Training is regular, everyone gets on well and any issues is sorted out quickly and efficiently. It also fits around my homelife amazingly well which is a bonus when you've got 3 children!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barchester Healthcare?
I would say he prepared to work in a fast paced environment, but also know that you will be supported along the way and make friends with it!
