Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Providing support ro residents of the service who mostly have learning disability, autism and other medical conditions. I support residents with personal care, meal preparation, shopping and accessing the community. I also support residents with emotional support and attending appointments with the GP and other health professionals.
In carrying out my daily role, I ensure that the residents are well listened to, shown empathy and given the right to make choices based on their desires.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme was educative and it helped me understand my role better. I enjoyed it a lot, because it was an eye opener and the topic taught were very elaborate and they have greatly enhanced my role and personal development.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learnt how to deliver person-centred support and to listen and communicate effectively with the service users. My handling of sensitve issues has greatly improved, while I am able to support my team more effectively.

I believe the training was well structured and all the modules were very robust to deliver optimum result to the learners.

I received all the support I needed to undertake the programme successfully, without any hitches. I must commend my employer for ensuring that all through the programme they kept in touch with me to ensure that I remaind focus and participated fully in all the relevant activities.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

It started well with my first personal tutor, but when she was changed, I will say that everything went soar, as I did not receive sufficient support from the personal tutor assigned to me. However, when my PT was againg changed to another person, I again started receiving the support I want, which led to my successful completion of the programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I sincerely feel very happy and appreciative, because the qualifaction I optained, gave me more confidence in carrying out my task successfully with confidence.

It is a great place to work, even though the organisation has its own challenges, but overall, they are genuinely interested in developing their staff so that they could deliver professionally on the job.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to VOYAGE Care?
They should have an open mind, and come in with the desire to improve the lifes of the people we support.
