Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work within the Learning and Development department at our Group Support office. My role is managing all the apprenticeship contracts with our chosen training providers, supporting colleagues to progress and develop their skills through Voyage's apprenticeship programmes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoyed learning about the strategic side of the business and how my role fits into Voyage's strategic plan

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Both. The apprenticeship developed my skills for writing proposals for new projects, what internal and external policy drivers effect change and how Voyage can remain competitive and be the employer of choice

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
We had set masterclasses fortnightly which were well structured, I had line of sight of the yearly schedule to enable me to plan my working schedule and prepare for the classes. My one to one tutor for the apprenticeship side scheduled monthly meetings well in advance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I was able to manage my time to enable me to attend the required classes and meetings, my manager was very supportive if I needed exposure to certain areas, to support me to complete the necessary modules.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes. We have open days at Group Support, where the people we support come along for the day and join in the fun activities and to meet the group support teams. I also have access to many professional networking events with other employers and training providers.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend VOYAGE Care to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Voyage Care have an open culture and are very much open to change. Voyage Care cares about people living fulfilled, independent lives and continue to improve the quality of support provided to the people we support. As the care sector evolves, Voyage are also on this journey and it is great to be involved in the exciting projects currently in progress. Even though my role is not directly supporting individuals, I still feel a sense of achievement that I am supporting colleagues to develop and improve their skills and knowledge and love listening to the fantastic success stories.
