Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Inspection maintenance, travelling across Scotland carrying out inspections and repairs on 25KV substations. On night shifts we ensure motor switches on the over head lines correctly operate as well as helping with new installations

Yes , I have learned many new skills. I have gained a much larger understanding of electricity as well as improving my ability to use hand and power tools.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Network Rail?
Be prepared for some hard work but for the most part it’s a very stress free and good place to work.
