Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
To support, care and protect the service users by working with and through the care plan, handover meetings, the communication book as well as with professionals like the G.P, district nurse, dentist, Salt Team, nutrionists, dietician, reflexoligist, opthalmogist, Falls team and others. To administer medication and record the Mars charts. To support residents with personal care, dressing, mobility, their daily meals according to IDDSI levels, physio, activities and outings. Also included is the cleaning of the Care Home and assisting resident's with their laundry. Sometimes I will drive the residents to their G.P appointments, activities and social outings like bowling, swimming and biking.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Caring for the vulnerable is very special because they have special needs and support. They need compassion, protection and care, and if you have the gift with the valuable knowledge, skills, behaviour and ability
and it comes naturally to you like it does with me it then becomes a pleasure rather a task to the serve and help the vulnerable residents and support them in their daily luves, helping them to achieve their goals, maintaining their wellbeing and welfare.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes I have learnt many skills:
Providing emotional support to residents like:
Taking time to listen to them, to interact with them and provide positive support.
Showing them compassion and tender care support whilst maintaing their dignity and honor.
Physical support to the residents like:
Physio, foot massages, walks, swimming and other physical activities that benefit their physical and mental state.
Teamwork: With colleagues where teamwork reveals it's importance in how effective teamwork is when all aspects are covered and addressed to provide an effective and healthy Care Home for the residents.
Medication administration: where medication is administered and Mars charts are used.
Mobility with certain apparatuses like hoists.
Safeguarding skills where vigilance is essential to look out for the service users, providing protection and support against any occurrence of abuse and potential hazards.
Care plans: working with residents, professional and families to create an established care plan that works; that supports their preferences, wishes, needs and well-being, whilst working towards their goals and aspirations.
Personal development: working towards one's best ability and growth using reflection, support and mentorship from senior colleagues and doing private research, whilst setting personal targets and taking time to focus on one's own well-being.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well organised and structured. Systems, policies and procedures with e-learning training are all provided with health and safety in place with critical controls and clear guidance like COSHH, FIRE ALARM SAFETY, RIDDOR, HEALTH and SAFETY, IDDSI, PPE, etc The management and Head office departments keep a strict focus on these and other controls.to ensure standards are maintained and service is at it's best.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Full support. The system speaks for itself, from the essential provision of required resources like PPE, mandatory e-learning training, supervisions, appraisals, apprenticeships and the controls which are routinely monitored. The company has an intranet named "HIVE" which provides a platform, a broad support base from e-learning to company policies and procedures to internal job vacancies and a great source of information on various subjects and topics.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive sufficient and effective support from my training provider. I had excellent trainers during my apprenticeship and a personal trainer who supported and encouraged me right to the Gateway process. Their input was effective and helpful toward my motivation in my apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The training I received provided me with a wealth of knowledge, skills and behaviour, equipping me with essential and effective information towards a wealth of knowledge and guidance for excellence in my performance, and confidence to face the daily tasks and responsibilities in my work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, I think there is on the intranet, but there is none at my work location.
