As an HGV recruitment consultant, my role is to connect qualified drivers with clients who need reliable, compliant, and skilled Drivers. I act as the link between haulage companies and drivers, ensuring both sides get the right fit.
On a day-to-day basis, my work is quite fast-paced and varied. A big part of the role involves speaking with clients to understand their staffing needs—this could be anything from last-minute cover for sickness to long-term driver placements. I also spend a lot of time sourcing and screening drivers, checking licences, CPC qualifications, tachograph cards, and making sure they meet all legal and company-specific requirements.
Another key part of the job is coordinating shifts. That means booking drivers onto jobs, confirming availability, and handling any issues that come up—like delays, cancellations, or compliance queries. Communication is constant, whether that’s over the phone, email, or transport systems.
