Tax Consultant - Summer Intern Review

During my time at Deloitte, I was exposed to various different tasks and assignments which all really helped my personal growth. My work was mainly split up into 2 parts - one part with the Private Client Services team not only dealing with individual's tax returns but also advisory work. The other part was dealing with larger companies and how we could minimise their tax exposure.

Yes. I was always busy and had tasks to do every day, I was extremely grateful for this.

I obviously learnt a lot more about tax, especially international tax e.g permanent establishments, OECD Pillar Two. However, the biggest skill I think I improved was my communication skills. When i was working with the Private Client Services team, I was able to see how senior professionals communicated with their clients and how they had managed to build a solid trustworthy relationship over the many years they had worked together. I believe this was great insight for me. I also think my microsoft office skills in general came a long way.

Deloitte assigned me a buddy during the onboarding process. This was extremely helpful as I was able to ask questions that were on my mind before I had even started.

I got on very well with all my work colleagues. I thought the atmosphere was a perfect mix of friendly and helpful but also driven and motivated.

I really enjoyed my internship. I made some good friendships with the other interns and got on very well with all my colleagues. The culture and atmosphere at work was really nice. The 5 weeks absolutely flew by.
