Analyst Review

I was a software developer working on web applications for tax related products. I worked with a team of about 5 containing engineers, product managers and designers. We would have daily stand-ups discussing our progress on current tasks and occasionally have meeting on planning the next project. I would work on various user stories that related to front end and back end tasks.

Yes, I was allocated many tasks that ranged and difficulty and importance for completing the project by our deadline.

Technical skills would be learning new programming languages like C# and learning system design, cloud technologies
Soft skills wise I developed my communication with others a lot as the job involved a lot of collaboration and because of this my confidence.

I received a lot of support and guidance throughout my placement. When I joined my team i felt very welcomed and it was easy to ask my team members questions about the roles, anything else about Deloitte and if I ever got stuck with a problem. I also had someone who would regularly check up on me to see how i was doing and if I had any issues. There would also be many opportunities to get feedback to help to develop.

The company was full of diverse individuals allowing everyone to fit in and learn from others cultures. The socials weren't too often due to budget restrictions but were varied in and enjoyable.

Most of the placement was enjoyable as I learnt a lot and worked with some great individuals. However during the middle there was a few months where the project I was working on unfortunately didn't have much work so I was spending a lot of time doing self learning through online courses making it feel like university again and not so much of an industrial experience. Apart from that it was great and had lots of variety giving me experience in many parts of software development.
