Spring into Deloitte intern Review

The insight programme was 2 days long, and we stayed in a hotel overnight, which was wonderful as it allowed us to stay later to have a meal with Deloitte employees and learn about their individual career paths, what they love about working at Deloitte and ask them any burning questions; they were so open and friendly and willing to talk openly about their experience. The days consisted of a mixture of networking with other young women on the insight programme (I met so many wonderful, aspirational women who I hope to work with in the future!), working as a team on a project and presenting it to a team of senior Deloitte staff, hearing about different aspects of the business (from support networks to individual experiences), and there was plenty of opportunities to participate and engage with the q&a sessions in the main hall.

I found all of the staff members absolutely wonderful, and they were so friendly and welcoming, meaning it wasn’t intimidating at all to ask questions. The roles were all explained, with examples as part of a presentation, and a member of the team from each service (in most cases) was available to talk about their role and receive questions. I found it was structured very well for understanding an otherwise complex business.

I feel I developed my team working skills, as I haven’t had many opportunities to work on projects like this before in my degree. I definitely developed my presentation skills, as this is usually very out of my comfort zone, however the senior staff gave very thoughtful and constructive feedback and were genuine and welcoming, so I felt at ease.

I didn’t think a corporate role like this would be for me, however, I was very impressed by the company culture, especially the Deloitte networks. I found everyone to be very friendly, and staff seemed genuinely settled in their roles, with friends from work and extracurricular activities related to their work (I.e., a Deloitte netball team!) .

I very much enjoyed this insight programme, and came away with strong aspirations to join this company. Through the conversion scheme, I have since secured a vacation scheme with Deloitte.

Yes

I would recommend expanding your horizons, and finding extracurricular things that relate in some way to the role, or not at all. All of the staff seemed to have their own outside interests that they could talk about to build rapport.
