I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend
the Spring into Deloitte Insight Programme in the
Audit & Tax division this week.
Over the course of two incredibly insightful days,
took part in a range of interactive sessions that
developed key professional skills including analytical
thinking, presenting under pressure, and effective
teamwork - all within the fast-paced context of
professional services
A key highlight for me was the group case study
challenge, where we were tasked with analysing a
renewable energy company's financial situation and
identifying potential audit, tax, and assurance issues
Working closely with my team to develop and
present a solution to a panel of senior Deloitte
professionals was both a challenging and rewarding
experience. It really pushed me out of my comfort
zone and strengthened my ability to communicate
ideas clearly, think critically, and work collaboratively
under time pressure
Beyond the practical exercises, we also had the
chance to hear from inspiring Deloitte professionals
who generously shared their journeys and insights
into the evolving nature of audit, the importance of
adaptability in tax, and the value of curiosity and
innovation in everything Deloitte does.
From learning about emerging tech like PairD, to
understanding how Deloitte embeds ESG and DEI
into its work culture, this programme gave me a
holistic view of the firm's impact and the exciting
opportunities in the industry.

Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
Yes
Why?
If you’re a motivated person who wants to learn fast, build a strong foundation, be exposed to a variety of work, and you’re comfortable with a dynamic environment (which may mean long hours sometimes), then Deloitte is a very good choice.
But if you prioritise very predictable hours, minimal stress, or want to specialise immediately in a very niche area without moving around, then maybe also look at alternatives (or make sure you join a team at Deloitte known for good balance).

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
I’d tell applicants to really understand Deloitte’s values and show how they’ve lived them in real situations. Deloitte puts a huge emphasis on collaboration, inclusion and taking ownership, so strong examples using the STAR method make a big difference. I’d also advise researching the specific business area you’re applying to, because Deloitte is large and each team works very differently, showing that you know the role and its purpose helps you stand out. Finally, I’d recommend practising numerical/logical tests early, and being prepared to explain your thought process clearly in the job simulation, as Deloitte looks for structured thinking just as much as the final answer.
