Audit and Tax internship Review

Attended interactive workshops, presentations and networking sessions, increasing my knowledge and skills within the field of Audit and Tax. Also completed work place simulations which has helped me gain a real insight in working at Deloitte.

There’s only so much you can learn about a business online. This spring week really helped me gain an insight on the culture of Deloitte and the industry, truly understanding life there. Included in this, ‘understanding what life would be like at Deloitte’ means understanding the different roles and the collaborative between teams that runs throughout the business.

It definitely enhanced my ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a wide range of people. Although, I’d also say the creation of a kind, welcoming environment really encouraged my to voice all of my thoughts and questions, which is a developed skill I now use in every situation.

The company culture is very much revolved around the three focal points of collaboration, integrity and excellence. That’s collaboration within their teams and with clients. Integrity across all their work, to build trust and remain ethical. Finally, excellence, to satisfy customers through innovation and hard work. I’d say this is very much reflected in the atmosphere, creating an environment that’s both productive and welcoming.

I think this was one of the best experiences I’ve gained. Not only was it incredibly insightful, but the opportunity to network has helped me gain friends and future mentors.

I’d say, don’t pretend you know everything. Deloitte doesn’t expect you to know all of the answers but they do admire individuals who have the inquisition and confidence to ask when they don’t know something.
