Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at EY?
The graduate program is well organized. The people in my team are lovely. However, my induction in the first few weeks/months was lacking as we went to college to study for accounting exams straight away, and therefore a lot of the admin points (such as timesheets, security clearance, resourcing, benefits etc) were missed and caused problems later down the line (such as having to re-apply for a DBS check for security clearance because mine had already expired by the time I applied for security clearance, and not being able to have private healthcare benefits the following year because the deadline was missed due to lack of information for us). The induction and intro sessions could be improved to include these admin points.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Building financial models in Excel, and review external financial models. I enjoy both.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
I feel like the work I am doing is contributing to the team, but there are still things I can't do on projects due to lack of experience, and yet not much time to learn because of tight project deadlines.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
3/5
We do get a good selection healthcare benefits, and a £500 spend account for wellbeing, which is good.
However, while the pay is not terrible, for the hours I actually work and the stress of every project, I think it is too low.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
There are lots of opportunities for projects and to work with different people. However as mentioned above, sometimes learning is lacking due to deadlines, and so we get simpler tasks that don't require much teaching.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
3/5
Learning at the start was accelerated, but now 1 year in I feel I am learning less day-to-day.
However, we learn a lot at college.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
Support has been good - the majority of people are helpful.
How is your work-life balance?
2/5
Too long hours and sometimes I have to cancel personal plans or appointments on busy projects. However, we do get long stretches on the bench where there is not much work to do.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
How would you rate EY initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
How would you rate EY CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
3/5
