I gained valuable insight into the built environment and became familiar with tools and software mainly used within project management. I developed practical skills such as working with Gantt charts, financial tracking and supporting project documentation.
My time at MACE also helped me strengthen my project management abilities particularly organisation, communication and planning which are skills that align strongly with my future career aspirations in creative and media production. Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
My line manager and mentor were both really supportive and I really valued the relationship we built. Through them, I was also connected with a buddy who gave me additional insight, especially around my future career interests. I felt well-guided in understanding the built environment and the wider context of the projects I was involved in.
However, I do feel there could have been more structured support around the placement project.
Communication at times was difficult or not as clear, which made it challenging to progress as confidently as I would have liked. That said, the overall support I received in my day-to-day role and professional development was very beneficial.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
From my first week, I experienced this through a networking event where I was able to meet and connect with many colleagues across different teams. I also really appreciated the volunteer day initiative, which showed MACE’s commitment to giving back and being involved in the wider community.
There were also smaller communities within MACE, such as the Christian group, which I joined briefly and found to be warm and supportive. The interns and colleagues I worked with were genuinely friendly, approachable and always open to having a conversation or offering help when needed.
Overall, the culture felt inclusive, sociable and supportive something that made a big difference during my time there.
