Overall, how would you describe your experience at Macfarlanes?
Supportive and generally positive - my supervisors and colleagues have been nurturing, constructive and inspiring individuals to work with.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Drafting, research, correspondence (including emails with clients and third parties/ experts) and matter management (i.e. the more administrative parts of the job, including saving down files) were my main tasks as a trainee. There was also an aspect of project management, as I was expected to progress my matters along independently, with input from senior lawyers where necessary. I enjoyed drafting and research the most out of all my tasks, as I enjoy the process of finding an answer and of clearly outlining the necessary/ effective points.
