Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Mace?
My experience at Mace has been very positive. I’ve had the opportunity to work with a great team and genuinely supportive people, which made the transition from university to the professional environment smooth. The projects I’ve been involved in have been diverse and challenging, giving me exposure to real-world scenarios and helping me develop practical skills. Mace also provides relevant training and structured mentoring, which has been invaluable for my growth and confidence as a graduate. Overall, it’s been an excellent platform to learn, contribute, and progress.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The main responsibilities of my role include managing specific areas and packages, which gives me ownership and accountability. This responsibility has helped me build confidence and develop leadership skills early in my career. What I enjoy most is the communication and problem-solving aspect of the job. Every day involves engaging with different stakeholders, identifying challenges, and making decisions that balance pros and cons. It’s rewarding because it pushes me to think critically and ensures that I’m contributing to the success of the project.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
My role gives me a real opportunity to contribute meaningfully because I’m responsible for looking after specific areas and packages, as well as working on the programme. This ownership makes me feel trusted and valued. I also receive plenty of advice and support from my team, which is important because I often have lots of questions. That collaborative environment makes it easier to learn, solve problems, and deliver results confidently
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
I believe my compensation package fairly reflects the work I do. The pension scheme is strong, which provides long-term security, and the additional perks like free medical checks and regular health care assessments show that the company values employee well-being. These benefits go beyond salary and make me feel supported both professionally and personally.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
My role is preparing me very well for my future career because it allows me to build technical, on-site experience while managing and coordinating teams. I’ve learned how to read and interpret drawings accurately, which is essential for decision-making. Being responsible for these tasks helps me develop confidence in making informed decisions and balancing different factors. These skills—technical knowledge, leadership, and problem-solving—are all critical for progressing in the construction and project management industry
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I feel I’m developing both new and existing skills through a combination of formal training and my day-to-day responsibilities. The learning portal is a great resource because it allows me to enroll in courses that are directly relevant to my role, which helps me strengthen technical and management skills. On top of that, the practical experience I gain on-site—such as coordinating teams, problem-solving, and interpreting drawings—complements the formal training and accelerates my development.

Experience & Company Culture

5/5
The support I receive from colleagues, line managers, and subcontractors is excellent. My team is always approachable and willing to share advice, which is really helpful as I often have questions while managing packages and coordinating work. Subcontractors are also very cooperative, making problem-solving and decision-making much easier. This collaborative environment gives me confidence and ensures that I can deliver effectively
How is your work-life balance?
3/5
My work-life balance can be challenging at times because of the combination of day-to-day responsibilities, formal training, graduate sessions, the graduate project, and working toward my CIOB chartership. It does get stressful, but I’ve learned that better time management is key. By planning ahead and prioritizing tasks, I’m able to stay on top of everything while still maintaining a healthy balance

The organisational culture at Mace is very collaborative and supportive. There’s a clear emphasis on teamwork, integrity, and delivering high-quality projects. The values of safety, innovation, and sustainability are embedded in everything we do, which creates a sense of purpose. The general atmosphere is positive and inclusive—people are approachable, willing to share knowledge, and genuinely invested in helping each other succeed. This makes it a great environment for learning and professional growth

Mace takes equality, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility seriously, and I would rate their initiatives highly. There is a clear commitment to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and valued. The company promotes diversity through recruitment practices, employee networks, and awareness campaigns. Accessibility is also considered in both physical workspaces and digital platforms, ensuring that everyone can participate fully. These initiatives make the workplace feel fair and welcoming

5/5
Mace’s CSR initiatives are impressive and demonstrate a genuine commitment to making a positive impact. The company focuses on sustainability, community engagement, and reducing environmental impact across projects. There are clear efforts to support local communities through volunteering and charitable activities, as well as initiatives aimed at achieving net-zero carbon goals.
