Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
During my internship at Timberplay, I work on BIM modelling in Revit. My main responsibility is converting 2D drawings and CAD models into full BIM models. I also prepare and structure these models so they can be shared with clients without requiring an NDA, ensuring the information is accurate, organised, and ready for further use.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given a good level of responsibility. I work independently on the accuracy and quality of the BIM models, handle the conversion from CAD to BIM, and prepare the materials for clients, which requires attention to detail and trust from the team.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, I developed several new skills during my internship. I improved my BIM modelling abilities in Revit, especially in converting CAD drawings into structured BIM models. I also strengthened my attention to detail, technical accuracy, and overall understanding of digital design workflows. In addition, I gained confidence working more independently and managing project tasks.

What advice would you give to others applying to Timberplay
I would recommend going in with a willingness to learn and ask questions. Having some familiarity with Revit or CAD will be a big advantage, but the team is supportive and ready to help you grow. Show enthusiasm for design and problem-solving, be proactive, and don’t be afraid to take initiative - Timberplay is a great place to develop your skills.
