Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role was to conduct an independant research study. This would involve creating and applying for ethical approval, working in accordance with my supervisory team, create a software in which I would use in my psychological study revolving around training students on opioid prevention training, recruit participants ethically and conduct my research study, collect and analyse my data, create a research poster to demonstrate my findings and project overview.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. This was an opportunity to independently run an in depth psychology project, as such an early stage in my career. The direction and progression of this project and its success were on my shoudlers, which involved me setting strict deadlines and having strong communication (e.g. with the national health charity CGL whom collaborated on my project).

Much support was given by my supervisor and co-supervisors as well as the JRA scheme itself which hosted and ran trainings for us, in order to assist with managing our projects.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Incredible, researching at Sussex was a unique experience as I felt comfortable and like I belonged. The work culture was very supporting and understanding that wellbeing comes first then work./
