Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I monitored and recorded the quality of samples from first prototypes to post production, and communicated my comments with factories (mainly in China). Also, I had different design projects through my placements with consisted of market research and CAD presentations. Our tech packs were uploaded onto PLM software to compile reports of costing and materials.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given adequate responsibilities which increased as I got more confident in the role. I always had someone on the team to monitor or assist me during my placement.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Both. My adobe illustrator skills were developed considerably and I got to learn new software such as PLM (Product Licensing Management). I learnt to use a hydrostatic head test on taped seams, and used a light box to approve lab dip samples. My confidence in communication professionally via email improved during my placement too.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had access to other brands design departments and fabric techs to answer any questions I might have had. My direct manager was very attentive and monitored my progress, and how busy I was.
