Overview of the Role
Overall, how would you describe your experience at BDO?
I have only recently started this role however, my experience so far at BDO has been great! The people are lovely, welcoming and super helpful and you are really eased into your new role, with a large focus on getting to know and supporting other fellow audit trainees.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
So far into the role, we have been put into a lot of training as well as starting our studies. So far the most enjoyable part has been being sent away to complete training with your intake from many offices across the UK, and this gave me the opportunity to not only gain some understanding on what my role will be, but also allowed me to get to know the people I will be working and studying with.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

As I have not been here long I haven't yet had the opportunity to be on many jobs. However, I do believe that as trainees our work is meaningful and valued, and I have not felt otherwise.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

I think this role is preparing me very well for my future career, as we are eased into to the role well.

I think training and day-to-day I have developed new skills and gained knowledge on new systems that must be used, as well as learning within my professional qualification.

How is the support you receive?

There is loads of support at BDO. Upon starting here you receive a people manager and a buddy who are both willing to help with whatever you need. But everyone else at the company also urges you to message them if you need help - support is really easy to find.
How is your work-life balance?

I think the work life balance is okay, just a struggle in the beginning between college, revising and work.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

Everything is well organised, everyone is inclusive and welcoming and it is encouraged to go into the office whenever possible to aide your learning and development.

BDO is very good for this I believe, as they allow and promote you to take volunteer days and also make people aware of any initiatives going on.

Why?
I would recommend BDO to a friend as the culture here is really lovely, you don't feel afraid to ask for help and you are surrounded by people who are willing to help. I also think the way in which you are brought into your new role is great and is a good transition from university.
