Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I supported children with special educational needs throughout the school day in and outside of class. My role included scribing and reading for children, helping them regulate their emotions, providing a safe space for them and supporting them in class tasks.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes I was linked to a year group along with my mentor so we were the designated LSAs for that year group. I also jointly ran an intervention.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt and developed many skills. Such as creating strategies to support students, being flexible and adaptable, working as a team, collaborating with teachers, communicating effectively with children and staff members, being organised so staff and students can rely on me etc.

I really enjoyed my placement it gave me an insight into what I would like to do in the future as I found what I am truly passionate about and felt like I was making a difference in my role.

What advice would you give to others applying to The Bishops Stortford High School
Trust the process, in the beginning it can be quite daunting stepping into a secondary school again if you have no experience of supporting in a secondary school or schools in general. However, everybody is so supportive and friendly any worries you have will quickly be solved and nobody expects you to be perfect. Enjoy it as it is over very quickly!
