Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Indie Campers are a global campervan rental company, offering fully equipped vehicles for road trips from seventy cities across North America, Oceania and Europe. The company combines many rental options for both long- and short-term travellers making it Europe’s leading campervan rental company.
• Ensuring a high standard of customer support and maintenance.
• Liaising with the fleet analysts to ensure smooth transitions between rentals.
• Working in a dynamic, customer facing environment with customers all over the world.
• Supporting logistical tasks such as fleet coordination and inventory checks.
• Preparing the campervans for pick-ups and drop-offs in a pressured time period.
• Communicating with other employees through calls from depots across the continent.
• Making sure customers are fully equipped for their travels around Ireland.
• Catering to different customers needs and wants especially when English is not their first language.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, lots of responsibility I was at the depot on my own usually 2 days a week as my manager trusted me which I was very appreciated it and I enjoyed the responsibility.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Developing my communication and language skills through talking to colleagues and customer from all around the world which I really enjoyed.
Learning new skills such as data through KPI's, presentation skills. And learning what skills and knowledge it takes to work for a multinational company.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
A lot, my manager was really helpful and was always there if I ever needed him. Made it really easy to settle in and meant that I really enjoyed the job and the work.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was diverse and very multicultural making it enjoyable listening to people from different countries and backgrounds because everyone has a story, this made it a really enjoyable place to work as no day of work was ever the same.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed the placement, I learnt so much it far exceeded my expectations moving to a different country was quite daunting but the company made it really easy to settle in so was really helpful. I would definitely recommend in doing a placement with Indie Campers.

What advice would you give to others applying to Indie Campers
Be yourself, be confident. A lot of the job is about you understand customers and being able to talk politely and confidently to the customers so this will be tested on you when applying for the job through interviews.
