Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I was in 5 days a week working on the operations side of events . The planning, the event and the breakdown of events. I was communicating with clients daily. Leading my team to ensure we provide the best service to our clients. I trained new staff member regularly.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received some support on my placement, but as time went on I was given freedom of leading my team as my manager stepped down and we were without an event manager for the rest of my time there.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
it was very welcoming at first but as soon as I was made to feel comfortable, the atmosphere soon changed to very toxic.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed it to a certain extent but I was ready to leave when my placement came to an end. I learnt a lot which I am very grateful for, but realised that this specific sector was not for me.

What advice would you give to others applying to Marriott
I would definitely recommend it to a friend as it was very educational, lots of opportunities and who knows you might enjoy it more than I did. Everyone has different ambitions in life.
