Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at UBS?
There are great learning and growth opportunities offered by the graduate scheme - allowing graduates to rotate in 3 different teams across the 2 years. The people and culture at UBS are amazing, as everyone is so nice and keen to share their experiences with you.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The role involves developing code for their platforms - building new functionalities and maintaining the existing stack. The part I enjoy most is the problem-solving aspect of the role, which comes with debugging issues that arise and finding the best solution for them.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
3/5
This is really dependent on the team, but I generally feel that most graduates are given the opportunity to do meaningful work. However, there have been instances where I've not had any meaningful, interesting work for some extended period because the team was too busy to find suitable tasks for me.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
Compensation is fairly good, especially for a fresh grad.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
I think the opportunity to rotate in different teams as part of the graduate scheme is a really valuable experience in my career development - widens my horizons and allows me to discover my interests.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
3/5
Again, this is rather team-dependent. Personally felt that my role in my first team was stagnating towards the end of my first year - wasn't given bigger tasks with more responsibilities and ended up working on rather monotonous tasks. However, rotating into a different team has changed that and I feel that I'm learning and growing everyday with new challenges.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Loads of support given to new joiners, especially graduates. Everyone was very open and willing to speak to you.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Very good
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
Everyone was very open and welcoming - always keen to go for a coffee chat. Hybrid working policy of 3 days in the office is rather fair.
How would you rate UBS initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
How would you rate UBS CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There are great opportunities present at the company, depending on the team/area.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
3/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to UBS?
Be yourself, get to know the culture and values (UBS's three keys), and most importantly show your passsion and interest.
