Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As a placement student, the role involved unique combination of both training and hands on work. According to my area of interest I was assigned to team matching my area of expertise which allowed me to work on day to day tasks like site inspections, design, reviews and asset analysis.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given many opportunities to take upon responsibility of tasks and innovation. I was provided with all the required support and the whole team helped me to thrive in the challenging situations.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I was able to do both of these as I was able to use my existing skills from electronics domain to create real world solutions and do analysis of devices and failures. I was able to develop skills like teamwork and management of work while being involved in the day to day work.

The support I received during whole placement year was exceptional. Let it be at work or outside work, Network Rail was committed to provide me best environment to work and they care for each employee at highest level.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

The experience at Network Rail was exceptionally better than what I expected. The work environment was really friendly and got a chance to sharpen my skills while working on challenging tasks.
