Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I performed audits on businesses which included selecting and ticking in samples from information provided to us by clients. I liaised with clients to resolve any issues noted
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given the responsibility to perform whole areas of an audit independently, from planning the tests to perform to concluding the results of the test. While guidance and tutoring was provided, we were expected to work independently on our assigned areas.

I have learned a huge amount about the whole audit process, as well as improved my interpersonal skills through interacting with clients and communicating complex ideas with colleagues.

As BDO are a training firm, mentorship is at the forefront of everything we do and so the support and guidance I received was of a very high quality. I always felt able to ask questions and seniors would be happy to take the time to explain things.

BDO have a great culture where they prioritise a work-life balance as well as working hard. Everyone is friendly and happy to help or just have a chat, making the office a lovely place to work

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my placement as my colleagues made the experience a very good one. At points the work was a bit repetitive and not massively intellectually stimulating but overall I enjoyed my time at BDO.
