Going out onto site and seeing how everything works and seeing how the engineers tackled these problems. Doing some task for the engineers. Using tools on site such as a CAT scanner
How well organised was your experience?

I thought it was very well organised and all the stuff that i required was there and ready for me starting and the relevent people to me made sure they had the times to meet with and speak to me.
To what extent did you enjoy your experience?

I really enjoyed my experience as i was able to go out onto the site loads and got to how everything actually worked which really helped my understanding and i was hardly stuck in the office. Everyone there was really nice and welcoming to me and i had a good laugh and joke with them.
How much did your experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

It helped a lot as i know that this something i definitely want to do in the future. I need to do experience at other sites doing different types of projects and spend some time doing design to know exactly which path i wish to go down.

What training and skills development did you learn from your experience?

I did health and safety training. I learned lots of skills such as how to use a CAT scanner, total station, general knowledge of how grouting should look, laying should look etc. Gained the knowledge of how a site works and how to interact and get on well with everyone on site.

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I learned a lot as Galliford Try puts safety as its number one priority and then how they promote positive working environments with courses to help inform the business and provide the knowledge to the gaps in knowledge anybody may have.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

There were greats opportunities as I met everyone that came to site and was advised to make a linkdin account to help with networking and was instantly able to add everyone on the site which would allow me to stay in contact with them in the future.

Would you recommend Galliford Try to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I thought they were very good at providing me with everything i needed and had no issues with anything. I was able to enjoy working and learned loads while making some good friends.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Galliford Try?
Don't be scared to ask questions. Just start speaking to everyone there whether they are an engineer or not as everybody has knowledge to give and it makes the job a lot more fun if you have plenty of people to speak to.
