Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The virtual experience was sessions on different aspects of the divisions at UBS, this was done by employees speaking about the role, Q&A and technical-based sessions. It is an interactive experience, though virtual, allowing a range of students from different backgrounds to understand UBS and its functions.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very interesting to understand roles I have never heard of before such as operations and risk, great to also learn about Asset Management which I did not know much about. However, it was also great to strengthen my existing Investment Banking/ Global Banking knowledge too.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have developed my listening and confidence in communication skills, especially with the Q&A sessions. My confidence to speak has improved greatly which will help me in future in-person settings. Both are soft skills important in a client-facing industry.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is very diverse, especially from the range of speakers from different backgrounds. I can especially see why 'our people' are very important to UBS in shaping its culture and creating tight-knit communities. Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
Overall, I enjoyed the virtual experience very much. It gave me much knowledge into the culture of UBS as well as its different divisions I have not heard of in the past. It met my expectations and exceeded what I would have expected from a virtual experience and it was all down to the HR staff managing each sessions, making sure every one is doing well.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS
I would say to candidates applying to UBS is to be yourself, show your true character and passion for the industry you would like to go into - especially at the interview and assessment centre stages.
