Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Hands-on experience, gaining an insight into the practice area through being given tasks to support my supervisor and others with live deals that they are currently working on.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, was given the responsibility to conduct trainee level tasks, such as drafting and conducting final reviews of key ancillary documents.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Developed specific technical skills such as my ability to conduct legal research and analysis, and my ability to draft and review documents such as corporate authorisations, all whilst enhancing broader skills such as my commercial awareness and ability to work both in a team and independently.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

An immense amount of support, with Macfarlanes providing me with a supervisor specific to my practice area, and two mentors both of senior roles who were always on hand to guide me and provide advice based on their own personal experiences.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Both the company culture and general atmosphere is very positive. There is an emphasis on a collaborative approach to work, and all employees are friendly and open to questions when needed.
