Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I currently manage the accounts payable inbox, processing any purchase invoices and statements that come through and assisting with supplier queries. I also assist in tasks relating to the payables ledger such as cash matching, prepayment schedules and direct debits.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it a lot. I find it all interesting and everyone I have met at my host company for the apprenticeship have been lovely people and welcoming. It is my first job I haven't dreaded going into work in the mornings.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to use the accounting software for our company, I have developed my skills and understanding of double entry bookkeeping and I am learning more about accruals, reversals, reconciliation of the accounts, journals, and ledgers.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think the structure can vary depending on the month in the year or the time of month. I am happy with the way I have been introduced new tasks in stages but there isn't always a clear structure at the moment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Both the apprenticeship agency that employ me and the host company I work for that pay the agency to hire me have been very supportive from the first day I started.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training supplier can be supportive at times but have been very inconsistent and frequently haven't followed through with support I was supposed to receive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It gave me a good baseline for the foundational knowledge of accounting but things are done differently from how you learn it in a classroom. Particularly since we only learn how to do processes manually in the classroom but everything is done on systems in the workplace. I feel the qualification will help more the higher the level I work towards.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are charity events to raise money. I have seen a few different things this year for the CAFTS charity. They also do a social night out for food at Christmas time but I haven't been here long enough to know if there are any others throughout the year.

Would you recommend Hosokawa Micron to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a really friendly place to work and very supportive. They have taken on many apprentices before in the past for all different departments and I'm sure they will continue to in the future. They are a company that seems aims to keep developing itself and plans for the future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hosokawa Micron?
Don't be shy when going through the application process, be yourself and ask any questions you might have, even about any concerns because that shows you have properly considered the job and are a genuine person instead of only trying to say what you might think will make the interviewer happy.
