Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a 1st year plumbing and gas engineer. On a day to day basis it consists of carrying out all different jobs such as boiler services, repairs, fitting bathrooms and tiling.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme I am on. I find it challenging and it makes me want to push myself to become better at my job every day.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have learnt many skills since working for WR. I’ve had good teachers and mentors that are willing to show me the correct ways in carrying out certain jobs.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

WR are an organised company who set us to work each day. There is a good routine which helps me plan out my day and weeks in advance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Every time I’ve needed any help etc. My bosses have always been there to approach.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Focus training group so far have been great. My mentor helps me with anything I need making my life easier to eventually be qualified.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

When we do practical work and classroom work. It gives me more of an insight of what to expect on the job and how to overcome any problems I might be having on site
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Would you recommend WR Plumbing and Heating to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Getting into plumbing is a good job for anyone. However working for WR can be full on at times but it brings the best out of me for sure and since I’ve started I improved a lot more because of it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WR Plumbing and Heating?
If you want to join, I’d advise coming with a good hard working attitude.
