Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in the test and quality section of the company, where my role varies from day to day. Some of my tasks include testing of the products we manufacture, carry out quality checks and reporting back issues as well as trying to help resolve them. I also help with the production of tools and coding in different environments. I also work on lots of different projects which means I am part of project teams which carry out tasks and regular meetings to discuss findings and determine next steps forwards.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the program I am on and find it engaging. I like learning about all the different parts of the business and find the course interesting. I also like how the apprenticeship has given me a base understanding of a lot of different skills in engineering and business which I find helps a lot in the job which I like. I also enjoy helping out on projects in real world environments and seeing the project all come together into the working environment.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
So far in my apprenticeship I have learnt lots of new skills in engineering. These includes skills such as basics in the following, welding, fabrication, electronics, PLC, machine shop and some basic business skills. In my job I have learnt the process of testing and making our tools. I have also developed skills that I had from A levels to help in my work here. As well as this I have also learnt and improved my presentation skills for when I am involved in meetings. The apprenticeship has also helped me to learn new skills for the industry as well as help in larger projects. This has helped me with my communication, presenting and team work skills based off of working in the project teams.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel that both my job and my course have a clear structure. It varies sometimes with different tasks but that teaches me to adapt as well as helps me to understand different areas of the business. I feel that the course is structured well and the business works well to incorporate the course content into my job role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I feel well-supported by my employer. I feel like they help guide me to handle new situations well and help guide me through the learning process. I have re occurring meetings to discus projects as well as seeing how well college is going. My employer also helps me to complete the coursework part of the course whilst I am in work. They do this by helping set tasks which includes topics that I am learning as well as tasks I need for the coursework side. There is a good support network as well in the company.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I feel like I receive good support from my training provider. My training providers help me to understand the work that I am doing as well as guide me through the process. They also help to set tasks that links to my job role to help complete the coursework tasks for my qualifications. My training provider also holds regular meetings to help me towards making sure that I am completing my training goals in college and at work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that the qualifications are giving me a good understanding of the engineering principles and how they translate to our products as well as why certain task are done in the ways they are done. I feel like this gives me a good knowledge range to look at documents and understand them along with how the process may work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
