Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Helping others on site with any job given to me, and working alongside a fully qualified carpenter with multiple years of experience, helping me get the qualifications I need and want to persue my goals in life
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I absolutely love the apprenticeship programme, I’m able to learn a skill and get paid a reasonably good wage, while learning something completely new to me,

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt loads of skills since starting my apprenticeship, and have picked up loads of tips on site due to working with multiple carpenters, and all the skills I have recently learnt are just developing day by day, due to the help of the carpenters around me

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
From my company’s side the programme is organised very well and if I have any problems I could email the office and they will get back to me within minutes, but the college side is still good but not amazing as the communication up there is quite poor
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I get a lot of support from my employer as when I was first starting out I didn’t really have the money saved up to buy my tools and get me started, so RPL brought the tools for me, knocked the VAT off the total price, and I paid it back at a reasonable price at the end of the month for a 3 month basis
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I get loads of support as RPL set me off to do some online courses on the FMB website to better my knowledge and sometimes they give me the chance to take a course in person, a few months back I had to go to a business centre to learn about the dangers of asbestos on a building site and how to deal with it when/ if I come across it, I thought this was valuable to me as asbestos is nearly everywhere as it was used massively, and has recently been banned to use in new builds, this is something that isn’t part of my college course but I got the chance to learn about it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
College is a massive help to perform better in my role as there is still things that I have not yet done on site which I have learnt to do at college, so when it’s time for me to do it on site I already have a rough idea of what is happening and can be more at help when doing the task
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
As I’ve mentioned previously RPL sometimes set me off to go do an online course or an in person course to help better my knowledge of not only the trade I’m learning but most aspects of construction such as health and safety dangers on site etc

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RPL Construction to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel like there is lots to learn while working for RPL as it’s got multiple sites and even another site off the Isle of Wight , so the work is by far not limited, and you get paid a pretty good wage to
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RPL Construction?
Just listen and don’t be afraid to ask any questions and it’s better to ask once than to do it twice, even if you start work at 8 get to work earlier and put in the extra work to get the qualification you want
