Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As an Early Years Apprentice, I support children’s development through play and daily routines like snack time and personal care. I assist staff, help set up activities, and observe children’s progress. This role allows me to gain hands-on experience while working towards my childcare qualification.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I’ve really enjoyed my apprenticeship programme. It’s been rewarding to watch the children grow and develop while I learn alongside them. The hands-on experience, supportive team, and opportunity to apply what I’ve learned in real settings have made the journey both enjoyable and meaningful for me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve learned valuable skills like supporting children’s learning through play, managing routines, and promoting positive behaviour. I’ve improved my communication with children and adults, built confidence in safeguarding practices, and developed teamwork and observation skills. These experiences are helping me grow professionally while working towards my qualification.

Structure and Support

The programme has been well-structured, balancing practical experience with learning. Clear guidance, regular reviews, and supportive mentors have helped me stay on track. Training sessions are relevant and easy to follow, and I’ve always known what’s expected of me. It’s been an organised and positive learning experience.

I’ve received great support from my employer throughout the programme. My colleagues and mentor have been approachable, patient, and always willing to help. I’ve had regular feedback, guidance with my tasks, and encouragement to grow in confidence. Their support has made a big difference in my learning journey.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider has been very supportive during my apprenticeship. Tutors are approachable, give clear feedback, and are always available when I need help. They’ve guided me through assignments, kept me motivated, and ensured I stay on track. Their consistent support has really helped me progress and succeed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification has really helped me perform better in my role. The training has deepened my understanding of child development, safeguarding, and effective communication. I can apply what I’ve learned directly in practice, which boosts my confidence and allows me to support the children and team more effectively.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At my workplace, there are some extra-curricular opportunities to get involved in. We occasionally have staff social events and team-building activities, which help build stronger relationships. There are also chances to attend training workshops and networking events, which support both personal development and professional growth within the early years sector.
